Godmanchester

Local actions include:

  • Campaigning to stop the development of up to 750 houses with new factory units, shops and a school on Bearscroft Farm south east of the A1198. But the Tories refuse to remove the allocation for development from the Local Plan, despite opportunities at Alconbury, so our efforts are also focused at getting the best from the developers if the building goes ahead
  • Trying to ensure that all primary school pupils in Godmanchester who want a place at one of the local schools get in and don't have to bus to Huntingdon.
  • Identifying opportunities for new footpath, cycleway and road improvements to go into the County Council's master plan
  • Supporting the Town Council and Environment Agency in their plans to build a new flood alleviation scheme to protect large parts of the town
  • Monitoring the replacement of many street lights by modern new ones to ensure they are adequate for local needs

Weekend A14 road closures for repairs to bridges and carriageway

The A14 between Spittals Interchange (Junction 23) and Godmanchester (Junction 24) will be closed in the westbound direction on all weekends from Friday January 13th to Sunday February 5th (10 pm on Friday night to 5 am on Monday morning). This will inevitably direct more traffic through Godmanchester along Cambridge Street and Post Street.

From Friday February 9th to Sunday March 11th the closures will be in the eastbound direction.
