Following Geoff Seeff in St Neots Eatons last year, and Andrew Wood in Yaxley earlier this year, James Catmur's victory is the third by election in Huntingdonshire to be won by the Liberal Democrats. In all three cases, both the Conservative and Labour votes went down.

Day to day, James works in the transport sector, helping to improve road safety and transport reliability

In canvassing recently a voter commented "I can't vote Conservative any more, and Labour don't seem much better". Recent results show people across Huntingdonshire turning to the Liberal Democrats which augurs well for the General Election, where Ian Sollom will be standing in St Neots and Mid Cambs and Mark Argent in Huntingdon constituency.
