Improvements announced to the Huntingdon Ring Road
Cambridgeshire County Council have announced safety improvements to the Huntingdon Ring Road, following calls for improvements.
The short term changes include improvements to signage to remove areas where there are currently gaps and updated cycling maps on the County Council's website and in libraries. "End of Route" signs have already been installed on Ambury Road.
Long term, options to upgrade sections of the Ring Road to improve walking and cycling provision are being explored (as part of the Cambridgeshire Walking and Cycling Infrastructure plan). Options to improve walking and cycling provision across the whole Ring Road and wider area are being explored as part of the Active Travel Strategy and Huntingdonshire Transport Strategy.
Nathan Hunt (Lib Dem District Councillor for Huntingdon East), who has been campaigning for improvements said: "This announcement is great to see. The County Council and its leadership have been listening and they're showing a real will to sort these issues out. Improved signage is a good start and addresses one of the main issues, and I look forward to working with the Council Council to explore more of the long term options as well".
